Overview

Chevrolet introduced the all-new Silverado 3500 HD (heavy duty) pickups during the 2007 model year. The highlights included a new and different exterior design, two unique interiors, and class-leading power and efficiency. The pickups roll into 2008 ready for work or leisure. They come with minor refinements and enhancements, while remaining loaded with segment-leading and segment-exclusive features.

The new Silverado 3500 HD is available in regular, extended and crew cab body styles, and in four trims – WT, 1LT, 2LT and LT – with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Dual rear wheels are optional.

Engine and Performance

Standard on all Silverado 3500HD models is a 6.0-liter V-8 engine that pumps out 353 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque; it is teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission. A Duramax 6.6-liter, turbo-diesel V-8 that delivers 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque is optional. The Duramax comes with an Allison six-speed automatic.

Body and Styling

The heavy-duty Silverado models have bold, muscular designs that differentiate them from their less rugged siblings. They come with a wider and taller dual-port grille having a prominent gold bow tie emblem at the centre. Silverado 3500 HD is quieter, more spacious and refined inside, with increased passenger comfort and storage space. It also features two new and distinct interiors that reflect the respective brand identities, including specific trims, appointments and gauge cluster appearance.

Safety Features

Silverado 3500 HD's robust ladder frame and strong body structure provide greater protection to occupants. Safety features include frontal air bags; front seatbelt pretensioners; an integrated trailer brake controller; OnStar with a one-year safe-and-sound plan; and a driver information center.
