The Chevy 2008 Silverado 2500 HD is a real workhorse, a full-size truck that can handle the roughest roads with ease. Available in a large number of trims, this truck retains most of its 2007 core characteristics.

Powertrain and warranty

The number of trims and specifications of the 2008 Silverado 2500 HD are wide and varied; so are the body styles and configurations. Regular Cab, Extended Cab or Crew Cab body styles; short or long bed lengths; three trims levels: Work Truck, LT and LTZ; and 2WD or 4WD drivetrain configurations are just some. However, the choice of engines is relatively simpler: A Gen IV Vortec, 6.0-liter, V-8 engine that generates 353 horsepower, a new level of output for this model; and a 6.6-liter, V-8, Duramax turbo diesel engine that emits a slightly more powerful 365 horses; apart from the regular 5.3-liter V-8, the 4.3 liter V-6, and the 4.8 liter V-8. A six-speed electronic automatic is common across engines.

Build and styling

Wishbone front suspension, CD player, cruise control, tilt steering and beam rear suspension are some of the standard interior features that one finds across the board; power windows and a large wheelbase are notable on the exterior.

Anti-lock brakes, driver and passenger air bags, and child safety locks are some of the standard safety features across all models.
