2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Overview

For 2008, Chevy has carried out some noticeable changes in the Cobalt's interior and exterior. For this year, what we get is either a two-door coupe or four-door sedan. The LS and LT models, which were withdrawn, have been brought back with a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder engine delivering 148 horsepower. If this is a reintroduction, the earlier stock model, the powerful SS Supercharged, seems to be still in storage. The company says this is to make way for more developed next-generation Cobalt models. Another change is that the SS has been rechristened Sport, and is now more powerful at 171 horsepower.

Powertrain and performance

While the five-speed manual transmission is standard across models, the four-speed automatic is optional. This applies to all of Cobalt’s six models –LS Sedan, LS Coupe, LT Sedan, LT Coupe, Sport Coupe and Sport Sedan.

Build and styling

Metallic paint, back door mirrors that can be adjusted by driver and rear passengers, halogen headlights, and body-colored front and rear bumpers are some of the standard external features. Interior features include a fixed mast antenna; RDS audio system with satellite and CD player; and a computer that reads average speed, average fuel consumption and the average distance the car can be expected to run.

Safety Features

Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, anti-skid system, traction control and curtain side air bags.
