Solar Power and Chevy Corvette: What’s the Link?

When you think of solar power, does the term car come to mind? How about sports car?

We didn’t immediately put these terms together, either. After reading about the recent announcement to build a huge solar array at the Bowling Green Assembly, home of the Chevy Corvette, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, it all started to make sense though.

This solar array—the largest by any car manufacturer in the state—is impressive. In fact, it’s large enough to create 1.2 million killowatts of energy, enough to produce approximately 850 Chevy Corvettes.

GM Plans for 500,000 EVs by 2017

With the American auto industry prospering once again and auto production back in full-tilt, well-known makers like our favorite, Chevrolet, (through GM) are setting admirable but somewhat ambitious goals for themselves.
